Artist Statement
I am a Kilkenny‑based artist.
i'm a multidisciplinary I'm a multidisciplinary artists who studied Photography Painting, Printing, live art, Creative multimedia and Sculpture
My work explores nostalgia and the passage of time. I am inspired by the stories held within the objects that surround us and the quiet narratives embedded in everyday items.
For my degree show, I presented a series of oil paintings on unconventional canvases, creating pieces that move beyond traditional boundaries. By painting household objects, I merge the worlds of art and domesticity, allowing familiar items to take on new meaning.
A central part of my practice is working from old family photographs. I let the found material guide the direction of each painting, allowing it to become an active part of the artwork rather than a passive reference. In this way, the material itself shapes the final outcome.
Through my work, I aim to capture the comforting familiarity these subjects evoke — the echoes of the past that linger within them. Viewers are invited to reflect on their own memories and reconsider the significance of the objects that shape their lives and environments.
The use of unconventional canvases in my art work has informed my teaching. When I plan project I think of the social issues we could discuss and how this can be brought into their creative practice as well as how to design environmentally friendly projects by reusing found materials.
